About Har Ki Doon Trek:
Surrounded with beautiful towering peaks, it is one of the most beautiful Himalayan treks in Uttarakhand. HarKiDoon is situated in the Western Ganges of the Garhwal Himalayas, at the base of the Fateh Parvat, at an elevation of 3,556 metres. This cradle shaped Valley, which is surrounded by dense forests of pines and glittering mountain peaks. Har-ki-Doon is a wonderful trek for both, the beginners as well as experienced Himalayan trekkers. It is best done throughout the year except monsoon and is accessible through Govind National Park. One can notice a great variety of flora and fauna. The trek offers you to experience the local lifestyle while walking through pine forests, rivers, glaciers and ancient villages.
Mythology
According to few, it is believed that “Har-ki_doon” means “Valley of the Gods”. “Har” is one of the names of Lord Shiva and “Doon” is a valley spread in the Himalayas. It is believed that lord Shiva used to stay at “Har-ki-doon”. One day Someshwara devta, the present deity of this region, arrived in the valley from Kashmir and requested lord Shiva to move away so he can be sole Lord of the valley. Lord Shiva followed his request and moved away.

Tentative Itinerary:
Day 1 : ARRIVAL DAY(DEHRADUN-BASE CAMP SANKRI) – [210KM DRIVE]
Drive from Dehradun to Sankri/Saur (1920mt) through the Yamuna and Tons valleys across the Yamuna bridge and eye pleasing view of beautiful dense pine forests.
Day 2 : SANKRI-TALUKA. [12KM DRIVE] TALUKA-SEEMA – [14KM TREK]
Early morning drive from Sankri to Taluka through dense forests and water streams gushing down the roads. and we shall trek around 14 kms
Day 3 : SEEMA-HAR-KI-DOON.[13KM TREK]
This day trekkers will be covering 13 km and will be a much steeper ascent.
DAY 4: STAY AT HAR-KI-DOON
Stay at Har Ki Doon. Explore the beauty of har-ki-doon valley with breathtaking views of swargarohini range, jumdhar glacier and great variety of flora and fauna. Beware of snow leoperds.
Day 5 : HAR-KI-DOON-SEEMA [13KM TREK]
The har-ki-doon valley is such an amazing place, that trekkers find it difficult to pull themselves out of the valley.
Day 6 : SEEMA-TALUKA. [14KM TREK] TALUKA-SANKRI BASE CAMP.[12KM DRIVE]
Trek for the last time from Seema to Taluka through dense forests.
Day 7 : DEPARTURE FROM SANKRI TO DEHRADUN
Board a taxi from Sankri to Dehradun early morning. We shall reach Dehradun by 5pm.

By Train : Indain Railways runs regular trains to Dehradun from all major cities.

By Road : Uttarakhand RTC has good connectivity from Delhi. You can get Bus from ISBT Kahmiri gate and Anand vihar.
