When we enter in to teen age, we see many adventures on T V (or) in films and we want to do that too. I used to watch a TV series which was based on Scuba diving and I used to dream to go in to the sea and watch what’s inside as heroes used to do.
I got this opportunity, when Backpackers and City Freaks(BCF) posted in a meetup group about Scuba Diving trip to Netrani Island near Murudeshwar , Karnataka.
My first experience of Scuba Diving at Goa was almost a failure, so I had determination in my mind that I must do it next time if the opportunity comes again. I was very happy that the opportunity given by Backpackers and City Freaks (BCF) knocked at my door and thus I grabbed the offer.
We were a group of around 20 members and all were so eager to venture into sea as I was eager too. We boarded the train to Hubli and our organizer had already booked the bus to Murudeshwar. We had a lot of fun in the bus. It was one of the best time we had together. In no time we were all very close to each other. You can watch few dancing videos of us in the bus here and our friend teaching us is here. It was fun all the way. It’s around 5 hours journey. We reached by afternoon, and settled down in a hired bungalow which was just opposite the beach.
There is a famous Shiva temple which is very tall and high looking over the Arabian Sea. After visiting Lord Shiva Temple which is just on the edge of the sea we went for lunch. And in the late evening had bonfire and it was fun to introduce ourselves. This is a must exercise, so that we know each other better.
Next day morning, we all were ready to have an exciting event, that was obviously , scuba diving. We had two expert divers who had come from Mumbai especially for our group. The boat was ready with necessary life jackets and other gadgets like air cylinders and masks , air pipes etc.
It was around 1.5 hour journey deep into the sea, and our Diving experts, started the training session, what do do, what not to do, how we should breathe inside the water, what is the sign language inside. , go deep or come out. what if the air pipe comes out of our mouth , etc etc. We had some doubts and those all were answered perfectly by our scuba experts. A small video on the boat while we were about to reach the Island. After reaching, we were searching for the favourable spot to dive. More clear view of the island you can watch in this video.
Finally we reached at the island and we were divided into groups and every time two members would go inside with the guide only. No individual was allowed as per their rule and we all being beginners. Few of us started with snorkelling
One by one a group of two went inside the sea and when they came out , they all had a huge smile on their faces. Hurray, we did it Hurray , yes we did it and it was an amazing experience to see colored and beautiful fishes all around us. Watch the video here
I was lucky to go twice inside and thus I achieved my dream of doing a stroll inside the see watching exotic fishes. So friends, Dream achieved , and ambition fulfilled with a satisfactory smile.
Next we were ready to leave for Hubli and from there by bus back to Hyderabad with sweet memories and we all were safe and healthy.
Our organizer from BCF took best care of us and that makes them so popular in travel groups. Thanks RK for making this happen successfully.
